How To Get The Right Travel Insurance And Save Money

You are ready for your dream holiday, but there is that one practicality left - insurance.

While there is no doubt that travel insurance is necessary, and not something with which you should do without, finding a policy which is not only cheap, but also offers the correct levels of protection for the activities on your vacation can be both daunting and boring.

With countless pages of policy small print and get-out clauses for the insurer, it can seem almost impossible to find what you want for a good price.

The majority of insurance policies do have reasonably comprehensive cover, and can often be purchased including dangerous sports such as skiing. However, the complications arise when it comes to deductibles and health situations, such as pre-existing problems.

For example, what happens if you do need to go to hospital in a foriegn country? Will the insurance company pick up the bill, or will you have to claim and pay at the time. This will not be suitable for a lot of travellers on a lower budget, but is the way that most policies work. There are many gaps and get-outs in travel insurance policies, and you will need to spot them in advance, should a problem arise.

Most policies cover trip cancellation, robbery, lost baggage, medical, dental and accidental death coverage, but you may also find emergency evacuation, insurance against delays, lost documentation and 24 hour travel assistance.

The key to finding the best deal is to shop around yourself - Don't simply buy your travel insurance from your travel agent. Here are a few reasons why:

- The coverage will not be as good.
- The policy will be less flexible.
- It may duplicate areas that you are already insured for.

It may seem like a better deal at the time to buy your insurance from your travel agent, but remember that they are not specialised in this area, and will only be offering an out-of-the-box policy from some partner insurance company, which they will make money off.

As with most things, you are better off doing your research, and arranging it yourself.

When buying your policy from an insurance company:

- Get quotes from as many companies as you can.
- Read the small print. Does it cover your intended activities?
- Can you waive the pre existing condition exclusion.
- Find out what types of cancellation the insurer will not pay out for. Again, it comes to carefully reading the policy details (I know it's boring, but it is necessary)
- Finally, if there is anything you need to know - Ask! There is no point in having the policy if you end up unable to claim.

Wishing you a fantastic trip, and an unused travel insurance policy!

Home Away From Home: Benefits Of Condos Over Hotels And Rvs

Most parents of school-age children are forced to confine their family vacations to summer months, Christmas holiday and Spring break. Other families can choose to take their vacations at any time that is appropriate to their personal preferences.

When people consider their vacation or weekend getaways, few understand the true range of options they really do have available to them. Many people think their only options for lodging on vacation is limited to: hotels, motels, cabins, RVs, travel trailers, and tents. But the truth is that there are a few more options that most people never even consider.

Condominiums, also referred to as Condos, are another great lodging option to consider. But, just speaking the word Condo brings to mind for many the concept of Time Share Condos. Of course, that is one option with a Condo, but we are going to look at the other options as well.

Condominium Residency Arrangements

A condominium, very literally, is very similar to an apartment. It is a fully self-contained living arrangement, with a living area, bedrooms, private balconies, and a full kitchen; and most condos contain all of the amenities, including big screen televisions, DVD players, high-speed Internet access, and other creature comforts we generally have in our homes, such as washers and dryers. Many condos also have hot tubs or Jacuzzis in the apartments.

Condos are basically full apartments, located in areas of prime real estate, such as Las Vegas on the Strip, or many other locations around the world on beachfront property. Condos generally provide additional benefits such as swimming pools, weight rooms, restaurants, and other high-value goodies.

We are going to look at four types of Condo purchase arrangements in this section.

1. Condominium Ownership Condo ownership costs include the purchase price of the apartment and yearly fees to cover maintenance costs.

2. Condominium Timeshares With a timeshare, the basic concept is that more people can afford them, because the cost of ownership is split among several owners on a per week basis. When someone buys a timeshare, they are buying a 1/52nd ownership of the Condo for a specific, pre-designated calendar week. With a timeshare, one is entitled to take over the property beginning on a specific calendar date, and they must vacate the property at the end of the week.

3. Condominium Rentals Instead of timesharing a condo, many people opt to rent a condo, which frequently requires a purchase of a specific weekly period, although many condos provide flexibility so that you can decide which week you would like to rent. Some condo owners will allow individuals to rent by the day, but those have a much lower availability, than the condos that rent by the week. More on this later in this article.

4. The Dreaded Seminar Timeshare Some companies are so desperate to find people to listen to their sales message that they are willing to put prospects up in a timeshare condo for the weekend or week, so long as the person(s) agrees to attend a specific number of sales presentations during their stay.

Benefits of Condos Over Hotels

The greatest benefit of condominiums over hotels is two-fold.

First, condos are fully self-contained, providing kitchens, spacious living and all of the luxuries of home to their guests. Many also provide high-speed Internet and data access to their business-class guests. For many folks, the full kitchen is the greatest advantage of a condo, in that, they will not have to eat nearly every meal in a restaurant, enabling the vacationer to spend his or her money on attractions rather than on restaurant foods.

The second greatest benefit for condominiums is three-fold: location, location, and location. Condos are generally located on some of the best prime real estate properties in the world. For example, City Center in Las Vegas is located on the Strip between the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and the New York, New York Hotel and Casino. Beachfront condos exist in nearly every major beach destination in the world. Condos are available in San Francisco, Chicago, NYC, Atlanta and Miami, just to name a few metropolitan locations. And locations are not restricted to U.S. destinations; in fact, condos are available in nearly every travel destination of the world.

Benefits of Condos Over RVs and Travel Trailers

RVs are nice, but considering the cost of fuel these days, they are seldom a great option for most travelers. A friend of mine recently priced a RV for a planned family vacation, and he found the cost for eight days would easily exceed one thousand dollars, plus mileage over 200 miles, plus fuel. At eight miles per gallon, his planned trip of 500 miles one-way would have easily translated into 125 gallons of gasoline and more than $400, just in fuel costs, at current fuel prices.

Sure, the RV is still more spacious than a car during a long road trip, but for the cost, renting a Cadillac for the trip might just make more sense. Given the claustrophobic nature of his wife, he felt that train or airplane might make more sense for his roundtrip transportation needs.

Transportation costs aside, the travel trailer and RV are both generally a bit confining in the space considerations. Certainly, the RV beats the travel trailer hands down in this department, most of the time, but when you consider the stress of stuffing a family of five with three young children into a RV, there is never enough space available for the sanity of the parents.

Benefits Over the Great Outdoors

With smaller travel trailers, travelers are still stuck with cooking outdoors. Sure, the travel trailer might be easier than the tent to set up, but travel trailers usually have small kitchens, if they even have a kitchen at all. Cooking outdoors for a family is more of a challenge than many in todays world want to consider.

The limited amount of refrigerated storage is another area that is usually greatly strained with the use of the average travel trailer or tent camping experience. Going into the woods with a ice chest is fine for an afternoon trip, but once that trip expands beyond the life of the ice in the chest, then food options drop off considerably. This is the greatest cause of stress for people planning such trips. They always need to manage how they can maximize their food store, within very limited-size refrigerated storage containers.

In todays modern world, it is frequently impossible to escape the reliance we have come to have for modern technology. This leads to a need for power supplies that can accompany the traveler, to keep them plugged into their gadgets. Tents and small travel trailers do not accommodate this need in many instances.

The Purpose of Vacations Is Rest and Relaxation, Which Is Sometimes Lost

For many of us, the purpose of a vacation is rest and relaxation. But, as we have seen above, the challenges of taking long trips can sometimes produce more stress than relaxation.

Another friend told me that he was very much relieved when his parents decided not to take any more summer vacations for the family. He said that by the end of the first day, every member of his family was ready to strangle the other. By the end of day two of their six-day traveling vacations, everyone wanted to go home, but his dad was stubborn to a fault. His family had tried nearly all of the above options: tents, travel trailers, RVs, hotels and motels.

Even today, twenty years later, he cannot fathom a family vacation like his parents took, without his blood pressure going up. A few years back, he had tried the condominium rental route, and he has never looked back.

He told me that for him and his young family, the only vacation choice they will ever take advantage of is the condo rentals. He said the money he saves by not going to restaurants, generally covers the extra costs of the condominium. He said the enjoyment that he and his family experience, is far greater than what it would be if they forced themselves to live in a hotel room for a week. He said the extra goodies that the condos generally provide help him to give his family a much more rounded and robust experience. He says the added space and convenience of the condo experience permits him and his wife to relax more during their out-of-state vacations.

Making a Great Vacation Even Better

I am in the business of providing wholesale travel packages to the consumer market. I got into this business myself, because I love to travel with my family. Because I am able to save so much money on my own travel, it enables me to take my family on more trips and vacations than I had previously thought I could do.

The one thing I love most about my job is that I can give others the power to do as I do. I set my friend up with a discount condo card package, and now he is able to get his condominium rentals for much less than he was previously able to do. Depending on his trip destinations, he was generally paying $650 to $2500 for one week in his choice destination.

When I was able to hook him up with the discount condo card package, he paid one small upfront fee to my company of $250 for the condo card. On one trip, he stayed in a five-star condo resort and was able to get the condo for a week at just about 25% of what it would have cost him to rent it at retail cost. On another trip, he was able to stay in a beachfront condo for one week, and it only cost him the taxes that were due on the condo for his one-week stay, a whopping $199.

All told, my friend has so far taken two one-week vacations, and between plane tickets and condo costs, he has only spent about half of what he spent on his previous trip, the one he took before I set him up to take advantage of the travel packages I sell.

The Greatest Reward

The greatest reward for me in what I do, is knowing how I am able to help people get more out of life for less money than what they would spend on their own, without my help.

In conclusion, let me ask you two very important questions. First, how much did you spend on your last family vacation or weekend getaway? And secondly, how much are you going to have to spend on your next family vacation or weekend getaway?

Luxury Cars: Toys for the Big Boys

Luxury cars are the playthings of the rich and famous. It comes as a status symbol to drive and ride in a classy and expensive vehicle. There is a market for this affluence; otherwise no cars of this calibre are manufactured to serve the discriminating preferences of this niche. Surprising enough, demand escalates for the more expensive types and the limited production of these fine cars makes them even pricier.

Most luxury cars are hand crafted and designed with fine and comfortable trimmings. Rolls-Royce or Mercedes-Benz, even Daimler and BMW have set up a luxury car segment where manufactured coupes are fine-tuned to fit owner preferences at a price that exceeds the range of normal sedans, sports coupes and SUVs.

It is extreme pricing more than technological features that set luxury cars from the regular 4-wheeled machines. These cars usually sell at a six-digit figure floor price. In a 2006 survey of luxury cars in the market, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 a European built and designed car is deemed the most expensive coupe, being retailed at $ 1,192,057 million dollars. The SSC Ultimate Aero, an American car was selling at $ 654,000 dollars; a tag price that compensates for its identity as the fastest car in its class. Giant car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz also churned out the SLR McLaren at $ 452,750 and the Maybach 62 at $ 385,250 dollars.

Before the end of year 2006, Rolls-Royce presented an extended version of the Phantom that is outfitted with bullet-proofed features and a roomy passenger cabin to provide lavish comfort and a pleasant driving experience. Such opulence would come at a whooping cost of $ 3.8 million dollars. Toyota on the other hand gave a lift to increasing environmental concerns by giving the industry a hybrid engine train for its Lexus LS 600h L, sold at $ 104,750 dollars.

The premium pricing of luxury cars is compensated by the built-in, power-packed performance features. A distinguishing feature is its power train. The Jaguar car series for example, carries on its hood a throbbing V-8 engine that delivers top-notch speed when moments call for it; an all wheel drive system that comes fully loaded and with superb handling capabilities. Additional features common to most luxury cars, the Mercedes-Benz E500 and BMW 500xi included, are the electronic stability program, digital surround-sound and hands free communication system that allows the driver use of the mobile phone from controls built into the steering wheel. Aesthetically, these luxury coupes are fitted with ergonomically designed leather seats, poplar or maple trims, wireless technology via Bluetooth, park-distance controls, electronic sensors and climate control sensors that can detect and evade pollutants like carbon monoxide and ethanol.

The Daimler Chrysler is popular for its top of the line engineering and car safety features while the Cadillac SRX has perfected the magnetic ride control, the XM satellite radio and back-seat DVD entertainment on top of superb luxury touches.

A new breed of luxury cars with superb aesthetic and aerodynamic features hits the market in 2007. This includes the diamond clad Mercedes-Benz, the all chrome BMW, the gold and diamond inlaid interior of the Maybach 57S and the gold plated Porsche Boxter in 22 karat beaten gold.

More expensive toys for the big boys, huhdefinitely!

Is A No Haggle Dealership For You

In 1990, General Motors capitalized on consumer's intense dislike of the auto purchasing process and introduced the Saturn. Saturns were, and are still, sold at a flat price with no dickering, dealing or haggling. Today, almost 25% of car buyers purchase vehicles from flat price, or no-haggle, dealerships. But are they truly saving money?

At no-haggle dealerships, cars are priced at a flat rate that typically includes a standard options package and a built in profit for the dealer. Additional options may be sold in flat-rate packages or a la carte. At regular dealerships, cars are displayed with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price but everything including options, warranty, financing and dealer profit is negotiable.

Research has shown that educated consumers pay much less for cars at regular dealerships than at no-haggle dealerships. This is because regular dealers set average profit goals over time. For example, if they sell five cars, the average profit per car should be a certain amount, say $1,000. That means of those five cars, three could sell for $1000 profit, but the dealer could make $2000 and $0 profit on the remaining two cars and still hit their goal. At a no-haggle dealership, the profit goal is fixed per car, meaning that while you will not pay $1000 more because you have poor negotiating skills, you will also not save $1000 if you have good ones.

There are certain people who historically do benefit from purchasing cars from no-haggle dealerships. Young adults, women and minorities in particular, have historically paid higher prices than other groups at regular auto dealerships and may benefit from no-haggle pricing. In fact, reacting to the trend of more and more young people turning to no-haggle dealerships for their automobile purchases, Toyota introduced the Scion in 2003. The Scion is a small car that comes with trendy options packages and is priced and marketed directly at young people who don't want to negotiate to purchase their car.

Therefore, if you are willing to do the research and confident in your negotiation skills, you will almost certainly save money at a regular dealership unless you want a Saturn or Scion. Then you'll have to pay the same price as everyone else. However, if you're timid, too busy to research or spend time making a deal, or in one of the groups that historically are offered worse deals, you may be better off at a no-haggle dealership.

Budget Air Travel

Like eating and breathing, travel really is an essential part of life. Even our ancient ancestors and early civilizations knew the importance of moving from one place to another. Without travel, we become stagnant. Without taking in astonishing views of natural wonders, and meeting incredible new people, we become overwhelmed by stress.

Air travel, with its breathtaking speed and limitless destinations, is by and far the best choice for adventurous people who need to feed their passion for travel. But there are other considerations, including the travel budget. The money in your pocket, backpack or luggage has to cover all food, hotel accommodations, boarding expenses, sightseeing trips, souvenirs and a lot more. Money can put tight restrictions on where you travel to, unless you choose to take advantage of budget air travel.

Smart travelers are not necessarily thrifty when they travel, but they are wise with their money and budgets in general. Being able to estimate all possible expenses that you will incur over the entire duration of your trip can help you get the most out of your travel budget. Avoid circumstances that can make you fall short of cash. If you are traveling alone and you run out of money, you have no one else to rely on for help. It is important to allow yourself an ample amount of cash, and be prepared for the unexpected.

Traveling with a budget airline, or taking advantage of discounted rates, is a great option for the smart and thrifty traveler. Here are some tips to help you fully enjoy your budget air travel experience:

* Make an initial assessment of fare rates. List and compare various airlines to find affordable rates. Remember that you can't put a price on your convenience, and keep in mind that you must enjoy the trip and be comfortable with the services offered.

* Look for an airline with cheaper fare but proven service. Practicality doesn't necessarily mean going with a first-class airline company. If you find an airline that offers a lower fare with great customer reviews, go for it.

* Go for package deals. Check the available airlines for current and upcoming promotions. If you can determine the exact number of days that you will be away, you can save by booking your departure and return flight at one time. Taking a package deal is also a big help if your return fare is paid for ahead of time.

* Travel in a group. If possible, plan to take your trip with your family or a group of friends. Discount air travel is often possible with group rates. The total fare is divided among the members of your group, and each person will pay a little less.

* Use the Internet to search for discount air travel rates. Airlines will provide actual fare quotes online, and offer full descriptions of their services. Numerous websites are available to help you compare rates, find the best quotes, confirm prices and even book the flights.

When you're taking the trip of your dreams, the last thing you want to worry about is money. Budget air travel is an excellent way for you to see the world and stay within your means. You won't need to cut yourself short, just be realistic and spend your money wisely.

The Internet And The Insurance Agent

The auto insurance business has gone to war online. Insurance companies such as esurance have emerged from nowhere to capture a significant portion of the auto insurance market, wholly through online marketing and sales. Theirs is a completely electronic empire. The company is underwritten by an established insurance firm and provides all of its customer service through a half dozen regional call centers scattered around the country.

Auto insurance is perhaps the most egregious example of insurance/internet collision. Every major insurance company offers "quotes" online for health insurance, life insurance, property and casualty and a host of lesser policies such as motorcycle and watercraft coverage. Long term health insurance is the new online product that many insurance companies are featuring, even those that don't carry a full line of health insurance products. The internet has become a showcase for "bargain" policies and for new products.

Limits to Online Insurance Sales

Fortunately for the independent agent, in the insurance business the "devil is in the details." Health and life policies can be complicated agreements; people who are buying them need to understand the importance of every clause in the policy. While they can read a policy that has been purchased online, they may well have difficulty finding someone who can explain it to them if it hasn't come through a local insurance agent.

Accordingly, the big firms like Metlife, Aetna, Farmers and Allstate will provide quotes online but then will usually direct online inquiries to local agents. There are a number of large firms that take pride in their network of local agents and use the national websites to support their independent agents.

The Value of a Local Agency Online

There are also quite a few independent insurance agencies that have developed websites trumpeting their independence and claiming it as a virtue. While local agencies don't carry competing products, they will carry different types of policies from an assortment of firms. The more aggressive independent agencies use 800 telephone numbers and online quote inquiries to make themselves appear larger than they perhaps are. Agents must be licensed to operate by the state where they are doing business; there aren't many locally based agencies that are licensed in more than one state.

That doesn't mean that an agency in Eugene Oregon, for example, can't service the entire state of Oregon. With a well designed website a local firm can blow itself up into a regional enterprise. 800 numbers contribute to this image as do expanded business hours and online claim forms. Those claim forms may simply generate a phone call from the office to the customer, but to the policy holder it seems like a large business entity providing full service and attentive support.

An independent agent can promise something that no online insurance sales operation can deliver: a face-to-face conversation and a step-by-step, page-by-page explanation of an insurance policy. Agents can use the websites operated by the underwriters they represent: many of the national websites have excellent FAQs on their policies and explanations of policy options. It's a good place for a consumer to start, and the independent agent can link his agency's site to those informative pages - and then reel the customer back in. Like politics, in the end all insurance is local. A website can expand what local means for an independent agent, both by online presence and through the use of search engine optimization.

Lady Drivers Can Make Savings On Their Car Insurance

Unfortunately your sex can make a huge difference to the amount of car insurance that you pay. Women drivers while having been the brunt of many jokes, particularity from male drivers, can in fact get cheaper car insurance than men.

Statistics have shown that women are indeed safer drivers than men, this is because women have been proven to make less claims than men do on their insurance. They also usually go for much less flashier cars than men choose, instead going for the more reserved and what is classed as the safer car.

There are many online companies now taking advantage of this fact and as such are offering deals specifically aimed at the women driver. Lady drivers can now search online for companies aimed at them and by doing so they can make huge savings on the amount of premiums they pay for car insurance.

However, there are other factors that determine how cheap you get your car insurance, regardless of your sex. The best, cheapest and quickest way to look for your car insurance is by doing so online. By looking online for your car insurance you are able to get instant quotes from many companies which ensures that you choose the cheapest deal possible.

Policy features and benefits and the cost of car insurance does vary from company to company and all policies have exclusions hidden within them so it is essential that you understand just what is included in the quote.

Other factors which are taken into account include the area in which you live. Depending on your postcode you can be charged a higher premium for your car insurance. While there isn't much you can do to change this you can make sure you have the best security features installed on your car, by doing so you can help to reduce the premium.

Travel Photography: National Parks In The Usa

Photographers, amateur and professional alike, can turn a summer road trip into an exciting and challenging photo opportunity. Scenic national parks throughout the continental United States provide wildlife and landscape vistas not found anywhere else. In addition, if youre really looking carefully, the wonders of nature can be found on most roads and highways.

Opportunity abounds for great pictures in Glacier National Park, for example. This area was formed by glaciers and remains in its primitive condition for the most part. Only one road crosses the Park. Bears, wolves, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, deer, elk and moose are the larger carnivores who call this Park home. Various habitats provide conditions for a variety of plant and animal life, thus creating a unique environment not equaled anywhere else in the country.

Late June and July offers opportunity for a spectacular wild flower display that will thrill photographers. Some short roads (more like trails) lead to trail heads that one can traverse to find the fields of flowers throughout the park. Some perimeter roads also provide this opportunity. Autumn brings the blazing colors that mark the beauty of natures changing seasons. And photographers love blazing color.

Early morning shots of wildlife grazing are available for early risers. Traveling Going-To-The-Sun Road (the one that crosses the park) and taking some of the offshoot roads leads you to grazing areas. There is also opportunity for pictures that combine wildlife and wildflowers, an especially staggering display of natures beauty.

Other photo ops in national parkland include Bryce Canyon, also formed by glaciers and the Grand Staircase in Escalante, New Mexico. Arizona and Utah offer Monument Valley and its grand rock formations that were formed by wind and water erosion. Yellowstone National Park will be a national favorite for many years to come.

Our national parks are among the most spectacular in the world.

New Car Lease - What You Need To Know

Should I buy or lease a car? Lease vs buy car? Who can resist the ads? Lease the car of your dreams for a mere $199.00 and very little down. It doesn't take much to see why leasing a car has become a popular option for those who either can't afford to buy a new car, or can't afford to upgrade to the model they really want.

On the surface, leasing a car may seem too good to be true - and oftentimes it is. Sure, leasing often gets you in a better car, but is it a better deal? For most people, the answer is no. Unless you need a short-term arrangement due to work or school demands, leasing often costs much more in the long run than buying.

Some questions you might consider if you can't keep up the payments, for example:

1. How to get out of a car lease.

2. Penalties for breaking a car lease.

3. Can you buy lease car.

4. Can you take over car lease.

5. Consider a car lease transfer.

What are some of the disadvantages of leasing? Check these out and see:

- If you continue to rollover car leases, payments never end, because you never "own" the vehicle.

- Limited Mileage. Leases offer a limited amount of miles per year that the car can be drive. Go over those limits, and pay extra when the lease ends

- The vehicle must be kept in tip-top shape. Scheduled maintenance must be done on time. You'll also pay for any scratches, dents, spots, stains, and general wearing on both the interior and exterior of the vehicle at the end of the least

- There's no backing out. Once a lease agreement is signed, you're in it until the end. If something happens, and you find yourself in need of getting out of a lease before it expires, plan on paying hefty terminations fees and penalties immediately

- Depreciation Hurts. All cars begin to lose value as soon as they are driven off the lot, but leased vehicles seem to be hit harder due to the fact that payments are so low, hindering any chance of having any equity in the vehicle.

Without the ability to trade it in at the end of the lease, that may not seem like a bad thing, unless you're in an accident. If the car or truck being leased happens to be totaled in an accident, the insurance company is only liable for the estimated value - not the total lease payoff - leaving you with a potential bill. Of course you can purchase separate leasing insurance - for a price.

- When it ends, you have no car. Most leases today range from 2-5 years. The average is 36 months. That means, in just three short years, you'll be forced to acquire another new vehicle. That may mean paying another down payment, and setting up yet another payment schedule. At least when you buy a car, you have some time to find a replacement.

- You're stuck with what they have. Customizing a vehicle is generally out of the questions when leasing. You are forced to take whatever color and options they have, which may not be necessarily what you want.

A new or used car lease can be a viable option for some consumers; the trick is to understand both its pros and cons before rushing to the showroom to make a deal.

Grilled Chicken Contains Cancer-Causing Agent

Grilled chicken from seven national restaurant chains contains a dangerous carcinogen called PhIP, prompting the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) to file a lawsuit against the restaurants, the PCRM announced September 28.

The lawsuit was filed under California's Proposition 65 in The Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Los Angeles to compel McDonald's, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Chili's, Applebee's, Outback Steakhouse, and TGI Friday's to warn unsuspecting consumers of the carcinogen. PhIP was found in every sample of grilled chicken from these restraurants.

"Grilled chicken can cause cancer, and consumers deserve to know that this supposedly healthy product is actually just as bad for them as high-fat fried chicken," says PCRM president Neal Barnard, M.D. "Even a grilled chicken salad increases the risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other forms of this lethal disease."

2-amino-1methyk-6-phenylimidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (PhIP), along with three other heterocyclic amines (HCAs), known as 2-amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-f] quinoline (IQ), 2-amino-3,4-dimethylimidazo[4,5-f] quinoline (MeIQ), and 2-amino-3,8-dimethylimidazo[4,5-f] quinoxaline (MeIQx) are listed by the National Toxicology Program in the Report on Carcinogen as reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen.

Heterocyclic amines (HCAs) including PhIP are formed by condensation of creatinine and amino acids in animal muscle during the cooking of meat. A high level of the cancer-causing agents can be formed in a cooking process at high temperature for a long time.

HCAs are readily absorbed and distributed in the body. They are metabolized by both phase I and phase II enzymes and become toxic forms, arylnitrenium ions, which ultimately bind to DNA, leading to HCA-induced DNA adducts.

PhIP and other HCAs are more toxic than commonly known carcinogens such as benzo-(a)-pyrene. Studies have already found that among others, intake of PhIP and other HCAs may increase risk of colon, breast and prostate cancer in humans, three most common cancers in the United States which are commonly associated with meat consumption.

To reduce HCAs in cooked meat, meat should be prepared under 392 F or 200 C. Direct heat should not be used to cook meat. Consumers may also use some spices to inhibit the formation of toxic forms of PhIP in the body. Garlic is one of known spices that counteract the cancer-causing effect of PhIP.

In a study presented at the annual meeting of American Association of Cancer Research held on Oct 31, 2005, Ronald D. Thomas, Ph.D. at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee and colleagues reported that garlic compound diallyl sulfide (DAS) antagonizes PhIP-induced alterations in the expression of phase I and phase II metabolizing enzymes in human breast epithelial cells.

"We treated human breast epithelial cells with equal amounts of PhIP and DAS separately, and the two together, for periods ranging from three to 24 hours," said Thomas. "PhIP induced expression of the cancer-causing enzyme at every stage, up to 40-fold, while DAS completely inhibited the PhIP enzyme from becoming carcinogenic."

Another way consumers may try to prevent PhIP-induced cancers is to avoid consumption of meat. Dr. T. Colin Campbell, a retired nutrition professor from Cornell University said in his book "China Study" that consumption of animal protein is linked with elevated activities of enzymes that convert many non-toxic chemicals such as aflatoxin into cancer-causing agents. Dr. Campbell and others have found meat consumption is linked with increased risk of many cancers.

The Basics of Travelling Smart!

Traveling is both stimulating and thrilling. It appeals to almost all of us for many reasons. It seems to come from somewhere deep within our sub-conscious. We are a societal and inquisitive animal. We are urged to explore and conquer our world both the known and unknown from our early nomadic traditions. It has always been, and always will be an exhilarating pursuit to go to unseen places.

Most of us face the basic travel dilemma of when and where to take our next trip or holiday. Here I will try to answer this key question: How do I pick a holiday destination and when is the best time to take my annual trip? Or would I be able to take in a couple of shorter trips instead this year?

Actually deciding on where to go and the time of travel is probably the easy part. Its not important if you are traveling as a thrill seeker, to visit family or friends in different cities or even countries, be present at an extravagant or very special event, visiting an out of the ordinary destination or just simply looking for rest and relaxation.

The best time to start planning your trip is as soon as the impulse hits you! Start looking for information straight away. Contact the local information and tourist offices and search online, to learn as much as you can about where you have decided to go.

Ensure that you plan your trip so there is something fun for everyone and budget for it! Think about organising activities for your children as well as for personal interest and indulgence. Deciding early will save money by and ensure you balance the family interest. Select a few of the touristy must-sees you really dont want to miss and enjoy them.

Deciding how long and how you will travel are very important decisions. The earlier you get organized and budget, the more prepared and better informed you will be. The early bird catches the worm!

Consider all the other details like, the time of year you want to travel, what will the weather be like, is seasonal traveling a good idea, public or religious holidays. Be clever and plan for the unexpected, unplanned extended stays, delays, layovers etc. Keep a positive attitude and use your ingenuity to make the most of your trips!

New Vintage Purses

Many designers are now striving for the vintage look. Vintage could mean going back as far as the forties or up to the seventies for stylistic cues. Vintage is a fantastic edge because today's fashion is looking back for hints from bolder, but simpler times. For the budget-minded seekers of vintage, a wise piece of advice is to check out some of the designers that, while aren't extremely well known, are popular enough to be moderately known.

No matter what you are looking for in a vintage style purse, if you don't give up you will find it. One way or another, you're bound find exactly what you're looking for in the new and improved styles that vintage purses have to offer. Because these unique styles are already vintage they will never go away. You'll be amazed at how popular these styles have and will become.

There are many designers that are designing their purses after the same purses that were seen on many of the old movies, in advertisements, or anything dating back to the era in question. These designers are working to replicate the same purses that any legend of the silver screen used to carry with them. They are relearning the same great styles, fashions, and materials to use as their subjects. They are recreating these nostalgic styles so that many women can own what they have always dreamed of having.

Vintage is timeless. These styles of purses blend perfectly with countless different looks. The same vintage purse can be used to accent the most formal dress or a plain pair of jeans. No matter what the individual look for a specific moment, a great vintage purse can complete the look.

Many vintage purses have beautiful level detail on them. They may have various different embellishments on stitched on them. These great purses can be found with floral designs and simple styles as well. Depending on the style of purse it is designed to duplicate, the materials can be simple or elegant. Many women consider finding the ones that meet their personality is half the fun of getting one of these unique and timeless creations.

Many designers are by using the same types of materials that were used in the original ones to perfectly capture the looks in their vintage knockoffs. The embroidered work, something that makes these purses so loved, is painstakingly replicated. In fact, there are many people that actually collect vintage purses, relishing the chance to find rare and unique ones to add to their collection. Every purse that purchased will tell a story and perhaps add a little mystique and adventure to its owner's personal style.

You Too Can Be A Giant Killer

If you operate in a market where there are one or two prominent players - perhaps many times larger than you are - it's very easy to get into the mindset that all you can do is chip away around the edges rather than take them on head-on. The natural assumption is that if you do take them on head-on either they will simply wipe you out with predatory pricing or the like or that you need massive amounts of finance to be effective to do so. Its then very easy to convince yourself that it's simply too risky and a lot safer to stay as you are.

Well it's not true! the secret is to not only be bold but also innovative and, as Michel Robert put it in his book Strategy Pure & Simple", force the competitors to play in your sandbox rather than playing in the theirs.

To illustrate the point lets have a look at three European companies that have each grown from nothing to major players in industries where there where massive, dominant successful competitors such that they now have those competitors seeking to play in "their sandbox". The three companies are Red Bull, King of Shaves and Virgin

Red Bull is an Austrian company its product of the same name is marketed as a "high energy drink (in fact it has just twice the caffeine content of normal colas and the same as a cup of coffee) and is sold in cans significantly smaller than their behemoth competitors Coke and Pepsi.

Red Bull was formed in 1984 after Dietrich Mateschitz and Nina Avery travelled to Thailand and saw that the tuk-tuk (rickshaw) drivers drank a substance to keep them energized throughout the day. After some alterations to the recipe, and a flavour modification for the public, Red Bull was born.

Now over 2 billion cans are sold each year in over 120 countries and both Coke and Pepsi have developed me-to products

What Red Bull have succeeded in doing in a remarkably short period of time is to take on and beat - certainly in terms of contribution - two of the biggest brands in the world. That is something that most of us would think impossible or at least we would have only been possible by undercutting on price. In fact the reverse is true, Red Bull is considerably more expensive that Coke or Pepsi.

Have a look at this comparison of the price per gallon of various liquids in the USA:

Milk $3.79
Evian water $6.40
Coke $8.20
Budweiser beer $8.88
Red Bull $30.69

If we assume that the production cost of Red Bull and Coke to be similar we then get an indication of the simply stunning profitability of Red Bull.

Whats stopping you from doing the same?

You may not yet have heard of King of Shaves but, believe me, you will!

By far the dominant player in shaving products is Gillette followed by Wilkinson Sword and this again is a market where most of us would say you must be mad to attempt to take on either of these world leaders head-on - but that's exactly what Will King did in the UK in late 1992.

- and now one King of Shaves product is sold every 7 seconds from 30,000 stores world-wide!
In 1992 Will King created the shaving oil product that was to become the bedrock of the company. Alongside his girlfriend Ann, he initially worked from their back bedroom, selling King of Shaves Original shaving oil which he created after getting razor burn from shaving with conventional foams or gels. He hand-filled the first 10,000 bottles over the kitchen sink and in 1993, got the product listed by Harrods and Boots the Chemist.

King of Shaves specialises in shaving and skincare software platforms for men and women, offering a number of shaving and skincare solutions ranging from the original natural essential oils to the low foam aloe based AlphaGels, the Kinexium silicon technology advanced shaving range, the silicon enhanced Proshave range, the new ASC2 antibacterial and DSC products and the recently enhanced and redesigned King of Shaves Woman range with multi-benefit shaving gels, the original and cult Express Shaving' and VanishHair 'Shave Minimising' spritzes plus a fabulous leg toning moisturiser. Autumn will also see the debut of our first 'Skinvestment Series' range of 'skincare in shaving' products, designed for use with today's high performance, multi-bladed shave systems.

King of Shaves is now the #2 'shaving software' brand (by sales & volume) in the UK, and is widely acknowledged as one of the most successful brands in the fast moving men's grooming market place. It continues to grow in the USA too, with the brand now listed in over 20,000 stores across the USA and won the FHM USA's 2005 Annual Grooming Awards for 'Best Wet Shaving Product'. King of Shaves is also available in Australia, Zealand, and Holland.

Im sure youll agree a remarkable, and unfinished, success story.

Whats stopping you from doing the same?

Finally Virgin. If you haven't read Richard Branson's autobiography "Losing my Virginity I commend it to you.

Love him or hate him what he and his remarkable team have managed to do is to create a brand that is inherently trusted by a vast range of people - having started with the music industry he's then gone into airlines, mobile phones, financial products, cosmetics, trains and many other markets. What other consumer brand would you trust so highly that you would give them your money to invest if they decided to go into financial services?

When Virgin first moved into the airline business in the UK by far the dominant player was British Airways and it is now the stuff of legend that the then Chairman of British Airways, Lord King, dismissed Virgin as a serious competitor simply because Richard Branson wore a jumper to work, not a suit! - A classic case I think of sitting in the Room of Contentment in the Change House model in my book!

Indeed applying the Change House model to Virgin you have to agree that they have been very successful at constantly staying in the Room of Renewal and from there challenging and beating dominant, entrenched players in one market after another - it truly is very impressive.

So what's this got to do with you?

Your markets are different arent they? - Well I don't believe they are - the simple message I would give you is one that you've heard from me before:

You must be very good at what you do or, these days, you simply would not be in business.

If you are very good at what you do then get you shoulders back, believe in yourselves, work very hard on a compelling "new sandbox" strategy,

- and go for it!

40 Boxcars and Their Different Types

Modelers of HO trains model after specific railroad periods of the United States and Canada. From almost the onset of American railroads the 40 foot boxcar has been in existence. It began to disappear from the railroads in the 1960s.

Refrigeration was changing from the old ice method to the modern thermal air-condition cars that were self cooling. Also, the 40 footer was beginning to be too small. The larger 50 & 60 footers were taking over and they even experimented with 86 foot boxcars. The big railroads wanted to haul more goods and reduce the tonnage they had to haul. It took 125 40 foot boxcars to equal 100 50 foot boxcars. The reduction would be 25 less 40 foot boxcars times their empty gross wait.

This was certainly an advantage for the railroads let alone the maintenance of the smaller boxcar. With this in mind the majority of the model railroaders I know still prefer the 40 foot boxcar. They like the era from the late 1920s though the early 1960s. They are also very colorful and interesting. Many of these nostalgic colorfully designed boxcars are gone unless they might be in a railroad museum. There were so many different designs and logos to see.

The hobbyist still has the opportunity to find many of these colorful boxcars that are manufactured by several model railroad producers of freight cars. Some examples are Kadee, Intermountain, Athearn/Athearn Genesis, Accurail, Bachmann, Walthers, Red Caboose, Bowser, Roundhouse (Roundhouse is now makes only the pre twentieth century cars), Branchline, Life-Like, etc. There are several more that sell kit form freight cars as do some of the aforementioned companies. You can even get wood kits but they are not common.

Now for the types of 40 foot boxcars there are more than you may possibly think. The types of construction and usage varied. It all depended where the railroad was mainly located and types of products, food and perishables that were being shipped. From perishables, staples (wheat, Corn, Barley, Soy, etc.), equipment that needed to be enclosed, parts, manufacturing equipment that was relative small and the manufacturer did not want the tools and or equipment dinged by flying debris, ice, snow and heavy rain, and typical Midwestern hail storms.

Typically soft goods like flour, sugar, fruit, dairy products, and processed meats were hauled in 40 foot reefers. These boxcars are smaller in size than the standard 40 footer. The majority of these reefers were wood as were most of the other types of 40 foot boxcars. This changed however, as time went on to metal reefers.

There are multiple types of 40 foot steel boxcars. There are the following types:

40 Superior Door Boxcar; 40 Double Door Boxcar; 40 Ribbed Boxcar; 40 Modern Boxcar; 40 Express Boxcar; 1937 AAR 40 Boxcar; 40 12 Panel Boxcar; 40 AAR Modified Boxcar; 40 PS-1 Boxcar; 40 Boxcar w/Youngstown Doors; 40 Double-Door Boxcar; 40 High-Cube Boxcar; 40 Ribbed Boxcar; 40 Steel Boxcar w/6 Panel Doors; 40 Steel & Wood Ice Bunker Reefers; 40 Steel & Wood Boxcar. This includes several types of 40 stock cars.

In all they all had a specific purpose for the railroad as well as the user. Many of the reefers were labeled with the name of the product and producer of the goods being carried. There was Rath Black Hawk Meats, Swift, Carnation Dairy Products, Needham Meats, and major carriers such as Pacific Fruit Express. The Pacific Fruit Express Company (PFE) owned the largest number of reefer cars of any of the different reefer users. Union Pacific owned the second largest number of PFE reefers and pulled more reefers than any other railroad during that period of the 40 Boxcar/Reefer era.

As time has gone on the boxcar has almost disappeared from the railroads. However, the need for boxcars has now become critical. The Piggy Back and Double Stack Containers is not necessarily the means needed for some goods. The boxcar may indeed have a come back on the railroads of today.

What It Takes to Build a DIY Web Business

So you want to get into business on the web, and you've decided that none of the pre-packaged opportunities quite do it for you. If you go do-it-yourself (DIY) you're in for a real ride!

Like any business, web business has a body of tricks and techniques. Success means mastering them. Now to be fair, you can learn as you go - but, the need to address each of seven disciplines remains.

The Seven Disciplines of Web Business are:

1. Designing your business: even if you throw the business together it still has a design. Careful design can guarantee success just as unthinking design can guarantee failure. Look around the offline world and ask yourself "How does this business make money?" You need to think through the same things on the web.

2. Position your business: an extension of the problem of design, positioning a business means marking it out from the competition and attracting customers to spend. Look at a crowded business offline - such as food groceries. How are the different stores positioned so they don't compete head to head?

3. Stocking the shelves: what you sell and how you source it is a fundamental skill in any business, even the web. The logical next step from positioning, think about the difference between a discount furniture store and a top end one. The product range will suit how they go to market.

4. Web design: acres of screen space have been devoted to this topic, a measure of its importance. Poorly designed web pages can still make money, but with the advent of software for the non-technical, anyone can create simple sites.

5. Generating traffic: separates the successful from the also-rans. Generating traffic is the most profoundly difficult activity on the web. Solved you are wealthy. Read all you can about traffic generation and make the necessary investments in tools. It is too important to just hope!

6. Converting your traffic: so you got them to the door, now get them to buy! Writing sales copy is a real art. Either invest the time in learning how - or hire someone.

7. Exploiting the customer base: your email list is your most valuable asset. Properly managed it will feed you for life! They say "the money is in the list", and so it is. Form relationships with your customer base and they will feed you for life.

The above represent The Seven Disciplines of Web Business. But alone they aren't enough for success. If you are at the decision point, try these questions:

Do you have the time and persistence to deal with the long learning curve on all the Seven Disciplines or am you looking for some form of 'nstant' success? If you feel under pressure to get there quickly, then Do It Yourself (DIY) isn't for you. There is nothing wrong with this. People come to web business typically under financial pressure and looking for a quick resolution to their difficulties. Getting going with a pre-packaged solution may well work, and if it doesn't they you will have learned a lot

Do you have something to say? Or a product to hawk? If you do, then DIY may be your solution. It may take you longer, but the intensity of the satisfaction will be greater and the financial potential is much higher

Are you technologically challenged? DIY for your first venture may not be the solution, technology is an inescapable part of web business

Are you a serious player, or is this a passing fancy? Be brutal. If you have a steady job, little entrepreneurial background and no burning need to do anything, then chances are you won't succeed at an entrepreneurial venture on or off line. Being an entrepreneur requires either deep drive, something to say or prove, or a complete inability to stand conventional employment. Not everyone has that drive. No reason they should. But if you don't and you're still interested then you are a hobbyist; have fun, the web isn't only about becoming rich. Setting up a web business, is a low cost affair compared with offline operations. The true cost isn't in money, it is in time.

Mastering the Seven Disciplines of Web Business takes time. But if you are successful, you have a skill that will feed you for your entire life! Now there's a reason to DIY... insurance in our uncertain world!

Finding Best Car Warranty

Car warranty is something that comes with the purchase of vehicles. It is nothing but the promise from the manufacturer that says that the vehicle you purchased is factually stated and legally implied by the company that created the vehicle.

Before you finalized the things ask your Car dealer to furnish you with all the detailed information about the Car warranty. Understand the items covered in the Car warranty. Some items that are commonly excluded in the items covered by Car warranty may include your wipers, battery, windows, fluids, oil filter, tires, belts, accessories and the emissions system. Most Car manufacturers do not honor warranties when the problem could be due to the fault or abuse or misuse of the owner.

Also, almost without exception, service departments offer some form of warranty on their work. Obviously, if the Car is still covered by the master warranty any repeat repairs will be covered. But most Car dealer service departments warrant their work on Car that is out of warranty. The warranties are usually specific to the repair and may cover parts, labor and rental Car expenses. Small garages may also offer warranties, but the advantage of a service department warranty is that it is usually good at any dealer of that make of Car.

In case if the problem you're experiencing is the subject of a manufacturer's recall, a service department mechanic will be more likely to know about it. Service departments at Car dealers typically run a check each time you bring your vehicle in for service to determine whether a recall has been issued for that make and model. Also, many Car manufacturers require that recall repairs be done by a service department.

Finally, if your Car needs to be in the shop for an extended period of time a service department that's located on the same site as an Car dealer can offer you more convenient access to your vehicle.

The Art of Buying Travel Luggage

Not all luggage is created equal. There is a wide variety of prices and quality between manufacturers. Before you purchase luggage you should consider what your actual luggage usage will be. There is no need for you to purchase the most expensive luggage if you only travel once or twice a year or if you never plan to fly.

Most people probably remember the old Samsonite commercial with gorillas throwing the luggage around their cage. While this was hilarious it was close to the truth. Checked luggage takes a beating.

If you never plan to fly you don't need super expensive luggage. Of course, we'd never recommend buying the cheapest either. You will still need luggage that will hold up under some abuse.

We'd also recommend you pay close attention to how luggage is priced. Most manufacturers highly over inflate the price of their luggage then bring the prices down claiming they are on sale or are deeply discounted. Don't believe this. This is what the jewelry industry does. When you're looking at luggage always start with the final price.

One thing you'll find is hundreds of different brands of luggage. From the expensive high end Ricardo luggage which has a built in digital scale, to lesser priced American Flyer luggage and many in between. Some luggage manufacturers try to reach a young audience with their styles and patterns. JanSport luggage does this. Some companies make children's luggage with smaller sizes and adorable prints. Liz Claiborne luggage is sophisticated and stylish for the fashionable woman traveler.

You're lucky if your luggage is only beat up and not lost. What about lost airline luggage? Do you have any idea what happens to it? Did you know that you can buy articles from lost airline luggage?

Were you aware that if you don't want to both with your luggage at all when you travel you can use a luggage delivery service? It isn't cheap, but you can have your luggage picked up from your home and have it waiting for you at your destination. Again, be aware of prices. Some have up front pricing. Some are a bit more difficult to figure out. Some charge extra for Saturday delivery and add pick up and fuel surcharges to the price. Make sure that you are fully aware of all charges when it comes to a luggage delivery service, and be aware that they generally quote one-way prices only.

The choice of luggage can make or break your vacation. The last thing you need to have happen is to have a zipper break, or a seam split or have a handle break as you're walking out the door to the airport. Experts will say don't overload your suitcase. This causes undue stress on zippers and seams. Examine your suitcase when you take it off the airline carousel. Check it to make sure there has been no damage done to your luggage. If there is obvious damage done to your luggage immediately take it to the airline customer service center to report it.

Canadian Rockies Golf Vacation

A Canadian Rockies golf vacation could very well be the most memorable holiday youll ever take! The Canadian Rockies truly are one of the top natural wonders of the world, internationally renowned for the stunning scenery, the sparklingly clean air, and the quiet of unspoiled wilderness. This is as close as it gets to paradise on earth.

Snow-gilded mountain peaks, gem-like lakes, lush green river valleys and wide blue western skies are almost scenery clichs, but on your Canadian Rockies golf vacation this is reality. Golfers from around the world come to just stand and stare at one of natures crowning achievements. The fact that youll be playing golf in such a fabulous setting is just the icing on the cake. Of course, the numerous world-class golf courses in the area take full advantage of their gorgeous settings.

Verdant fairways weave themselves around glacier-fed streams and towering stands of evergreens, and often the greens themselves are back-dropped by achingly beautiful vistas. If there is a heaven, surely it must look like this! In such circumstances, it can be very difficult to concentrate on your golf game.

There are a wide variety of golf courses to choose from, all of them fabulous in their own unique way. Stanley Thompson, Canadas master golf architect, designed the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course in 1928. He sensitively incorporated the natural scenic splendour into his design. The course winds along beside the pristine wilderness of the Bow River overlooked by the snow-capped peaks of Sulphur Mountain and Mount Rundle. This amazing course will both challenge and delight you.

SCOREGolf Magazine rates the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club as the #1 Best Golf Resort in Canada with good reason. Designed in the 1920s by Stanley Thompson, few golf courses in the world can match the rugged majesty of this national treasure. The design features wide fairways carved through thick forest, dramatic bunkering and holes aligned with distant mountain vistas. It presents a cunning blend of beautiful landscapes and challenging terrain.

Of course, a Canadian Rockies golf vacation would be incomplete without luxurious accommodations, fine dining, unique shopping experiences and pampering spas. Fortunately, resorts like Banff and Jasper in the Canadian Rockies have been offering these amenities for well over a century, all in a unique manner. Hedonistic luxury in the heart of spectacular unspoiled wilderness is now a Canadian Rockies tradition.

Choosing A Hair Color According To Your Skin Tone

Have you ever seen a woman with a hair color you absolutely lovedyou asked her what color it was, she told you and you went right out and bought the same color. You applied it according to directionsand your hair looked completely wrong. Ive learned the hard way that unless I have similar skin tone to the woman wearing the color I love, I will save myself a lot of grief if I just complement her on her great color, and let it go.

It is not just a matter of finding a color that looks great on the box. Your skin tone, your eye color, and your natural hair color must be considered when you look for a hair color for you.

First, and most important, you need to determine whether your skin tone is warm or cool. The best way to determine this is to stand by a window and hold your inner arm next to a sheet of white paper.

Is your skin primarily tan, peachy or gold? Or does your medium skin have a greenish undertone? If you are brown-skinned, is there a gold or cinnamon undertone? If so, then your skin tone is warm.

Your eye color is probably green, hazel, golden brown, or red-brown. You might have gold or brown fleck in your eyes. Your natural hair color as a child could have ranged from a natural golden blonde, strawberry blonde to red, golden brown or a deep brown with gold or red highlights. As you gray, your hair probably has a yellow cast. These are attributes of warm skin people.

If your skin has a cool tone, your arm will appear bluish next to the white paper. Your skin will have a pink undertone. If your skin is brown it will be a deep brown or a black brown. Your eyes will be blue, gray, hazel with white or blue flecks, or very dark brown. As a child, your hair color could have been very pale blonde, or a darker blonde, or a medium to dark brown that did not look gold in the sun; or your hair would have been coffee-colored, or blue-black. Your hair, as it grays, turns white. These are all cool tones.

The trick to getting a hair color that looks good on you, is to stay with the skin tone God gave you. People with warm skin tones look best in warm colors. Cool skin tones look best with cool colors. Choosing a hair that does not complement your natural coloring will result in an unpleasant disharmony, no matter how pretty the color is on the box. If the natural undertone of your hair is warm, and you try putting a cool blue or violet-based hair color on it, it is somewhat like mixing yellow and blue. Your hair will probably have a greenish cast.

If you read the labels on the hair coloring boxes, most will give you a clue as to whether they are warm or cool colors. The word ash on a label means cool. As discussed in the previous paragraph, if your coloring is warm, dont use an ash, or you may wind up getting green looking hair.

You can color your hair any color you would like. Blonde, red, brown, gray and black all come in warm or in cool tones. The safest way is to follow your skin tone and choose a color that goes with that tone. You can go lighter, darker, or intensifyjust stay with the same tone.

The same goes for highlighting your hair. Warm-toned people lighten with pale gold, bright gold, russet, warm brown. Cool-toned people lighten with white, platinum, cocoa.

Even the exciting crayon-color accents that you see on young people can coordinate with skin tone. There are yellows, oranges, lime-greens, and rusts for the warm-toned, and fuchsia, electric blue, purple and black for the cool-toned.

Keeping My Boyfriend Sexually Attracted

Dr. Neder:

I read one of your articles about how to keep my boyfriend interested in me sexually. You said to try to change things up but honestly I feel like I just want to be myself because if he fell in love with who I am then why should I change just for him to show interest in me again?

He says that he would like a challenge and play hard to get sometimes and to tell him no more but, I feel like I'm playing games and I'm not exactly into it. Please try to help me figure out a way to get his interest back for me without me having to feel like I have to put on an act and be someone I'm not.

====================

Hello!

Let me tell you a little story:

One day, this inventor created the world's greatest mousetrap. Never before had anyone ever seen anything so impressive! He was very proud of his work and just knew that he'd become a multi-millionaire because of how great his new invention was.

The problem was that nobody bought it.

If it was so great, why didn't anyone buy it? Simple: it cost $200 each and was so complicated to use that nobody could figure it out.

So, rather than change his mousetrap, he went about trying to convince everyone how great it was, but they didn't listen to him. They said nice things to placate him, but in fact, they still didn't buy his mousetrap.

Finally, as an old man at the end of his life, he was just bitter that everyone else was "stupid" and just couldn't see his vision.

.and everyone kept buying mousetraps for $1 that were "good enough".

So, why did I tell you that story? You're becoming that inventor. You're convinced that your boyfriend should just like everything about you without you having to change or grow or do anything. You shouldn't give him what he's asking for because it means you have to do some work.

So, one day, he'll dump you and go find some woman that WILL give him what he wants. Then, you'll be left bitter and unhappy, believing that he's "stupid" for not knowing what he had. Unfortunately, he'll never know what he had because all he could see (and remember) was that girlfriend that didn't want to put out any effort to be what he needed and she figured it should just be "good enough".

There is nothing in this world that is more wasteful that this sort of attitude. It's not an "act" or a put-on or anything like that to be what your boyfriend wants you to be! In fact, it's all about relationship management.

Sure, you don't want to have to be the only one that works hard to manage your relationship, but that doesn't mean it takes no work whatsoever! Every relationship takes work and you know exactly what work yours needs. You should be very happy that your boyfriend actually TOLD you what he wants - many guys (and girls!) just think you should already know and get angry when you don't!

Now, with all of that said, I'd caution you to get the REAL story from your boyfriend. Honestly, I seriously doubt that he always wants you to tell him "no". Maybe he wants that once in a great while, but trust me; no man wants to have to constantly work for his partner's affection!

This is likely his way of telling you something else. What that is, I don't specifically know. Perhaps he wants to you to take on a character that challenges him where he has to become a little more aggressive with you or something like that.

Be careful about reading in the wrong thing here - go talk to him instead! Communication is THE aphrodisiac. Get a very clear picture of what he wants and then simply become that woman. You'll never lose him if you do this, but you're actually showing him the door if you don't.

Best regards...

Are Travel Agents A Thing Of The Past?

In the past, before the advent of the Internet, it has largely been too time consuming or too expensive for the average consumer to deal directly with the travel operator and personally arrange every aspect of their holiday. Travel agents became a trusted and speedy medium via which the holiday consumer could book a package that would otherwise be impossible for the independent consumer to find.

The role of the travel agent includes three key tasks:

1) Perform the function of the information broker, passing information between buyers and suppliers

2) Process transactions including printing tickets and forwarding money to suppliers

3) Advise travellers on places to go, things to do and other important information

These three tasks have been lampooned by the information and facilities provided on the Internet. Consumers have recently realised that it is possible to research their planned holiday fully online. Users can find out about specific regional information at the click of a mouse. Small local hotels, specific local attractions and regional tours can be researched with ease before a booking is considered.

In the early years of the Internet, consumers tended not to trust booking online. It was perceived that parting with credit card details over the Internet was not a secure method of payment. Users instead tended to research everything they wanted to know before hand and then contact their travel agent either face-to-face or over the phone to book their holiday package.

The Internet offers an effective means for developing a single and sustainable electronic infrastructure for information gathering and business transactions for both travellers and suppliers. It is an ideal method for people to source information on travel. It is therefore essential for travel-related Websites to offer useful, pertinent and easy-to-find information alongside a booking facility if appropriate. The Internet can be used to fully research a destination, book all aspects of the holiday including travel and communicate others who have the same ideas or have been through similar experiences. It gives travellers an excellent opportunity to compare and contrast everything on offer before they make a purchase.

The information available online is continually being reformatted and presented in a more logical, easy-to-use and read format. The volume of consumers that rely on this information to make travel-related decisions will therefore continue to rise. In addition, features and benefits of using the Internet to research and book holidays are improving and being added to all the time. For example, consumers no longer have to receive printed tickets from the travel operator. They simply print out any information that they require themselves after they receive it automatically via email.

The Internet has meant that people can now easily plan trips for themselves. This has not only opened up a greater amount of discounts available to the general public, but also given people the fun and enjoyment of planning and booking their own trips.

Are travel agents a thing of the past? The future isnt looking too rosy for them. They might perhaps retain their presence in certain specialist markets, where they can offer a unique service to individual market segments but if youre a love all, serve all travel agent youve probably seen your income levels drop significantly over the last few years.

Fighting Back Against Speeding Fines And Penalty Points

Fighting Back Against Speeding Fines And Penalty Points

The hard pressed UK motorist is, and always will be considered a soft target in the eyes of the individual, the law and the numerous motoring associations. And not without good reason.

Any rise in the cost of oil prices is almost immediately passed on to the motorist at the petrol pumps. Every budget offers the Chancellor another opportunity to raise the cost of the Road Fund Licence (car tax), and, although insurance companies are currently cutting each other's throats to offer us cheaper cover, they'll fight you all the way should you be unlucky enough to have to make a claim.

Then there are congestion charges, wheel clamping campaigns and ever increasing parking fees to contend with, especially near airports and in hospital car parks.

But, top of the list of all the motorist money squeezing opportunities is without a doubt, the speeding fine. Almost every driver will break the speed limit of some road at some time, either intentionally, due to some urgent 'mission', or most likely because of a momentary of lack of concentration.

There are currently than 5,400 static camera sites in the UK and just under 3,500 mobile speed units in operation, so just about anyone is likely to get caught at any given time. Unfortunately for some, they will get caught more than once, which could leave them in very precarious position concerning their future driving excursions.

It's reported that almost a million motorists in the UK are on the brink of facing a driving ban due to the 12 point totting up system. And with 2 million motorists falling victim to speed cameras and mobile units last year, there's obviously no shortage of future potential disqualifications lying on the file.

The Safety Camera Partnership, operating under the guise of a road safety campaign organisation, is considered to be one of the most profitable government 'businesses' of all time, raking in more than 120 million in fines during last year alone. Yet according to Safe Speed, the road safety campaign organization, around 95 percent of road crashes have absolutely nothing to do with speeding.

However, the threat of disqualification due to the accumulation of penalty points on the UK motorist's driving licence is ever present, and for many, it will undoubtedly be the speed camera which will be responsible.

In some areas of the UK, motorists have openly demonstrated their opposition to these 'fund raising' devices. Some have vented their anger by defacing or setting fire to cameras and some have successfully won their speeding cases in the courts. The clear message to motorists is, don't just accept it, fight back.

More recently, vital information has been made available to drivers to enable them to 'know their rights', in the event of facing a speeding fine or even a ban. It would appear that even the lucrative safety camera 'money spinner' operation has a few flaws and loopholes.

Every motorist who values their driving licence would be well advised to find out more about the information now becoming openly available. It's not often the ordinary UK driver has an opportunity to fight back and protect their precious permit, affording them the absolute freedom to travel.
